Intrathecal Drug Delivery System

Introduction
A targeted drug delivery system delivers pain medication directly to the fluid around the intrathecal space. The system includes a drug pump that is connected to a thin, flexible tube called a catheter

Purpose of intrathecal drug delivery system is to administer drug (esp opioids, baclofen) in spinal fluid for the treatment of chronic severe pain and spasticity.

Currently, FDA-approved medications for the continuous intrathecal delivery are principally morphine, clonidine, baclofen, and ziconotide.
